Bernie Girod (Rock & Roll) and John Vincent (Argo 3) finish 2nd at Les Voiles de St. Barth!

On April 12-18, 2019 the crew of Rock & Roll, led by owner Bernard Girod and the crew of Argo 3, led by owner John Vincent, headed down to St. Barth for the Les Voiles de St. Barth Regatta.  They both finished 2nd in their respective classes and had the experience of a lifetime.   Below is a summary from Rock & Roll owner, Bernie Girod.  Full results at: https://regattaguru.com/lesvoiles/100289/results

Les Voiles de St Barth is a wonderful event. Well organized. Three days of racing, one day of playing at Nikki Beach followed by two additional days of racing. Sailing conditions were superb—temperature in the low 80’s, winds 15-25 knots, clear warm water, very scenic. Our courses were typically 30 miles long around the island, and took about four hours.
Our charter boat was a Lombard 46, a twin rudder boat with a wide stern and a hard chine. It was fast upwind and on a reach, but slow downwind largely due to a poor spinnaker inventory. Unfortunately we blew out her “best” kite on day 2. Our principal competition was two Cookson 50’s. We finished in second place behind a well sailed boat and prevailed over the other. Our Santa Barbara crew did an awesome job.
The on-shore activities were first class. Laser shows, fireworks, champagne flowing freely. It’s an event not to be missed.
