From the commodore
Dear Members and Visitors,
It is my honor and privilege to be the Commodore of the Santa Barbara Yacht Club for 2021. I am lucky to have grown up sailing here in Santa Barbara and am now raising my daughter to have a love of sailing and the Corinthian spirit.
The Santa Barbara Yacht Club is the 2nd oldest club on the West Coast. We are lucky to run most of our races from our 2nd deck with a fixed starting line and course. The mission of the club “is to promote and manage yachting activities, to advance the art and science of seamanship, to preserve maritime tradition, and to serve the social and recreations needs of its members, while being mindful of the needs of our community.” We run approx. 200 races per year, from the longest running Wet Wednesday on the West Coast, to offshore island excursions, fishing, kite surf racing, Monday speaker lunches, Charity Regatta, Friendship Paddle, Flags along the breakwater. We have an active social club with specialty events ranging from the annual Luau, theme parties, domino and ping pong tournaments.
I look forward to connecting with you at the Club. Please do not hesitate to send me any suggestions.
