An Emphasis On Fun

If you like catching other boats, and hate to be caught, CHRF racing is for you.  It's a racing format that doesn't care about your boat's PHRF rating. Handicaps are based only on how your boat performs with you at the helm...that's it. There is simply no way to have more fun on the water for sailors of every skill level.  In fact, half the time the slower boats win, and they win without a spinnaker. Ever want to crush the hot racing boats with your cruiser? Ever want to catch the entire fleet at the finish with your turbo sled?  You can and you will with CHRF racing, and the more participants we have, the more trophies you'll collect (never fewer than 50% of the participants receive a trophy).

This message is for all Santa Barbara Yacht Club sailors and racers, and is meant to rekindle the enthusiasm of all of our existing CHRF racers for the upcoming year, and to attract new members to our fleet.

So please mark the race dates on your calendar, and make some phone calls to recruit your friends. Anyone not already in our fleet just doesn't know what they are missing. Help 'em out. All they have to do is show up on a race day, and they are in.
