Sailboat Race and Predicted Log

Without you we couldn’t have a regatta, of course.  Although will have many activities throughout the day, the power and sailboat competitions will be the main events for competitors.  The success of our fund raising efforts depends on the full participation of our boating members.  Both events are intended to be fun yet competitive with perpetual and take home trophies going to the winners.

We also appreciate those of you who will take along co-skippers (see below).  These folks are very excited to be a member of your crew. Power and Sail boat entries receive a “Skippers Bag” filled with lots of cool goodies generously donated by organizations like Jordano’s, Endless Summer, Up-Time, West Marine, Seacoast & the yacht club.  They also receive a couple of Yachts of Love hats along with the coveted etched crystal commemorative wine glass.   Each entry is encourage to make a discretionary donation at the time of entry.  Last year we received $7,885 in entry donations from our very generous fleets.

To spice things up a bit this year, we have come up with an added benefit for entries.  Only boat entries can participate in a special raffle for a spectacular 7 night stay at the Villa Oceana in Costa Rica.  This place is absolutely amazing with enough rooms and a separate guest house to accommodate up to 12 people very comfortably.  It has a private pool with spectacular views of the ocean.  The Gordons, Nourys, Bannicks and the Papas were there in November and could have easily brought along more people.  This may be a great “chip in” for the crew…..  Although airfare is not included, this is a very, very cool opportunity.

Any boat entry contributing $1,000 or more as their “optional” boat entry donation will receive 1 FREE raffle ticket.  Additional tickets can then be purchased for $100.  You can buy as many as you wish after your $1,000 donation.  Remember, only boat entries (sailboat race, predicted log competition or spectator boat) are eligible to participate and only those contributing $1,000 or more have a chance to win!

We will have 7 boats racing with Co Skippers.
This is a new, cool twist to the day’s event.  The co-skippers are:

Dave Sadeki, Battalion Commander of County Fire - Skian Dhu

Pat McElroy, Battalion Commander of City Fire - Bebe

Officer Kent “Wojo” Wojceichosji of SBPD - Prevail

Lieutenant Doug Kresky of SBPD - Warrior

Anthony Borgatello 2009 El Presidente of our Old Spanish Days (Fiesta) celebration - Taxi

Julie Ramos of the KTYD morning show – Fast Tango

Bill Pesso of KLITE - Bullish

Everyone appreciates your involvement.  Good luck in your respective competition.

Appreciatively,

Tony Papa
Committee Chairman
