Welcome back from our Catalina Island cruise this year. The weather was great and moorings we abundant . All the activity planners ( commodore group) did a fantastic job. I was only at the Avalon week and had a great time. The opening landing party had about 90 people and was a great way to share the anticipated week with others.  The dingy parade this years was themed "California Dreamin" and I think we had some real surfer/flower children in the group masquerading as responsible members of SBYC. All was going well until the group opened fire with water canons. I am sure we will have a write up in the Scuttlbutt so keep your eyes open.

Our Labor Day Cruise is coming up, September 4,5,6, and it should begin the beautiful fall weather which makes the islands an exceptional experience. Our experienced Captains Suesan and Garry Pawlitski will be captaining this cruise so we are in for some fun activities.

The cruise will be at Pelican Cove, Santa Cruz Island.  Activites will be Sunday early afternoon, so make sure you sharpen your mind and your nails... then we convene to Hale Kai, which the Baxters have graciously offered for our traditional evening get-together and awards.  Please bring an appetizer to share, plus, if you desire: your own mixer, beer, or wine.  It's important you sign up, online or at the club desk, so we have enough of the other "stuff" and prizes!  We hope to see you there!

There is one other cruise left, our fall cruise October 9,10,11,  where Ken Clements will take us to the "way beyond" if weather permits. More info on that later.

For those of you who have been waiting to join a cruise, but never had time, now is your last time to jump in and get your SBYC cruising certification.
