Notice of Race

 

1.                  RULES

1.1             The regatta will be governed by the Racing Rules of Sailing (2005-2008), the prescriptions of U.S. Sailing, the ISSA Procedural Rules as modified by the PCISA, the rules of the CFJ Class (except as modified by the sailing instructions); the Notice of Race and by the sailing instructions, all of which supplement and modify the former. 

1.2             All boats must have current registration.

1.3             Class rules requiring CFJ class membership shall not apply.

1.4             All boats must use PCISA issued sails and be entered in a round robin rotation.

 

  1.      ADVERTISING

     The regatta will be a Category A event.

 

  1.      ELIGIBILITY AND ENTRY

3.1     Eligibility shall be determined by the guidelines of the PCISA.

3.2      All entries must be received by 1700 hours Monday March 12th, 2007 .  Exceptions may be made at the discretion of PCISA.

 

4.        FEES

            An entry fee of $110.00 per team will be required to complete registration.  This fee includes 4 regatta T-shirts, PCISA sail fee, and refreshments Saturday evening.  Additional T-shirts are $15 each and should be ordered in advance on the entry form.  Checks should be made out to “UC Regents” with “UCSB Sailing” in the memo.

6.                  CHECK IN AND BOAT INSPECTION

6.1      The Registration table will open at 0800 hours near the launch ramp.  Teams should check in prior to boat inspection.

6.2      Representatives of the race committee will be available to inspect boats from 0800 to 0930 hours Saturday March 17, 2007 . 

6.3      Only teams whose boats have been inspected may pick up their sails.

 

7.                  LAUNCHING

            The launch ramp and docks may only be used by boats that are leaving for or returning from the racing area.  Teams may not use the launch ramp or docks for rigging or boat storage.  Each team must provide a sufficient trailer or dolly for their boat.

 

8.                  SAILING INSTRUCTIONS

             Sailing Instructions will be available at the registration table the day of the regatta.

 

9.          VENUE AND LODGING

9.1       The venue shall be the Santa Barbara Harbor and the Santa Barbara Channel adjacent to Stearns Wharf .

9.2       There are several hotels on Cabrillo Blvd. within walking distance of the regatta site.   Early reservations are usually necessary.  More affordable options are also available in Santa Barbara or Goleta with 15 minutes drive.

 

10                 FOOD

The UCSB Sailing Team will be offering a BBQ Lunch (approximately $6) for competitors and spectators both days from 1130 to 1400 hours.  The complete menu will be available at the regatta.

 

11                 SCORING          

The regatta shall be scored in accordance with ISSA and PCISA Procedural rules.

 

12                 COACHES AND SPECTATORS

12.1          Coaching shall occur in accordance with ISSA and PCISA Procedural rules, and shall not occur on the water.

12.2          Spectator boats shall monitor VHF Channel 68 for instructions from the Race Committee.

 

13                 PRIZES

Prizes will be awarded to the top competitors following racing on Sunday at SBYC.

 

14                 DISCLAIMER OF LIABILITY

Competitors participate in the regatta entirely at their own risk. See RRS rule 4, Decision to Race.  The organizing authority will not accept any liability for material damage or personal injury or death sustained in conjunction with or prior to, during, or after the regatta.
