The course chart shall be distributed at the skipper’s meeting.  A separate course chart shall be used for racing on Sunday. (SBSSA 2006 Course Chart)  Marks for both courses shall be red/orange or white balls.

8. PENALTY SYSTEM
Rule 44.2 is modified such that a boat may correct an infraction of a Part 2 rule by completing one turn, including a tack and a gybe.

9. THE START
Races will be started using the Sound-Signal Starting System, Appendix Q.  The starting line for an outside course will be between an orange flag on the race committee boat and a round red/orange mark.   The start for an inside line will be between two red balls off of Sea Shell (West) Beach.  The starting line is restricted except when starting or finishing or when correcting a starting or finishing error.

10. OBSTRUCTION
An imaginary line that begins at the furthest west channel marker (red nun buoy) and passes through each contiguous channel marker towards Stearns Wharf is classified as an obstruction.  Boats that cross this imaginary line into the navigational channel shall immediately exit and retire from the race.  The race committee may protest for infringement of the obstruction.

11. THE FINISH LINE
The finish line will be the same line as the start line.

12. PROTESTS AND REQUESTS FOR REDRESS
Protests forms are available from the race committee ashore.  Any boat intending to protest shall notify the race committee immediately after finishing the race in which the incident occurred.  The time limit to file protests is 45 minutes after the race committee returns to the launch ramp area.  Protests will be heard in the order received at SBYC.

13. SCORING
The Low Point Scoring System of Appendix A shall apply.  Three races are required to constitute a series.  If five or more races are run, the highest score for each skipper will be dropped.

14. COACHING
Instructions from the designated event coaches shall be considered as information available to all competitors, as defined in Rule 41(d), at any time.

15. SAFETY REGULATIONS
All competitors are required to check-in with the race committee before the first warning. Any boat that retires from a race and/or returns to shore from the outside course shall notify the race committee.  All competitors shall wear personal flotation devices at all times while on the water.

16. DISCLAIMER OF LIABILITY
Participants in this event compete entirely at their own risk. See Rule 4, Decision to Race.  The organizing authority will not accept any liability for material damage or personal injury sustained in conjunction with or prior to, during, or after the regatta.
