Sailing Instructions
1
RULES
This race will be governed by the 2005-2008 Racing
Rules of Sailing, the prescriptions of the USSA, the rules of the Southern
California J/105 Fleet, and by these sailing instructions. This race is designated Category A.

ENTRIES
All SBYC Staff Commodore’s may enter by filling out a
SBYC Race Entry Form before 1000 hours on the day of the race. Exceptions are at the discretion of the Race
Committee.

NOTICES TO COMPETITORS
Notices to competitors will be posted on the
official notice board located on the SBYC lower deck.

SKIPPER’S MEETING
A skipper’s meeting will be held at 1100 hours upstairs
on the deck.

CHANGES IN SAILING INSTRUCTIONS
Any change in the sailing instructions
will be posted before 1115 hours on the day of the race.

SIGNALS MADE ASHORE
Signals made ashore will be
displayed from the SBYC yardarm.

SCHEDULE OF RACES
The warning signal for the first race will be at 1225
hours.

RACING AREA
The racing area shall be the Santa Barbara Channel.

THE COURSE
Courses will be modified windward leewards.
10 MARKS
Marks will be inflatable
tetrahedrons.
11 THE START
11.1
The start will be between an orange flag on the race committee boat and an
orange tetrahedron.
11.2 The race will be started in accordance with RRS
26.
12 CLASS FLAG
The class flag for the fleet
shall be a red flag with a white ‘A’ in the center.
13 THE FINISH
The
finish will be between marks F and G, as shown on the 2006 SBYC Course Chart.
14 BOAT ROTATIONS
Boat assignments and the rotation format will be announced
at the skippers meeting.
15 PROTESTS
15.1 Protests must be filed with the Race
Committee within one hour of the last boat finishing.
15.2 All Protests involving infringements of Part
2 Rules shall be heard in arbitration under the SBYC Arbitration Guidelines.
16 PRIZES
Trophies
will be awarded to the top three finishers in the regatta. The top finisher will win the Deardorff
perpetual trophy for 2006.
17 RADIO
COMMUNICATION
The race committee will monitor VHF channel 71.
